I've been doing this for over half my life, and at some point it stopped being a job and became a process to how my brain works. I read the fonts on menus. I grade the logos on work trucks at red lights. I still spot things I designed years ago in the wild, and yes, I point them out to whoever is in the car.
Professionally, that looks like this: I've led brand systems from the first sketch to the 50-page guideline, shot the product photography myself when the budget said no, and written the front-end code when the developer was booked. I care about the work being good, and I care just as much about the team being able to use it on a Tuesday afternoon without calling me.
I'll happily lead a team or be the senior hands on a project. Either way I bring the same things: a real opinion, a clean file, and the belief that life is too short to ship something you're not proud of. Also metal music, old country music, and donuts. Mostly donuts.
